About Us
Bundarra Berkshires Free Range Pork is dedicated to breeding quality free range animals in a sustainable, natural outdoors environment. We are a small farm near Barham on the Murray River in Southern NSW and we believe that our pork has a superior quality and taste due to the way we treat our animals. We love our pigs and we love the pork they produce. We know that you will love our pork too.
Our goal is to produce top quality pork meat for our local community and restaurants from Berkshire free range pigs that are bred and raised out in paddocks their entire lives. We ensure each animal has lived a happy life playing in the mud with rain and sun on their backs but still have the protection from harsh elements under rice straw huts. We believe this natural rearing and diverse diet from being able to root and forage from the paddocks ensures a full flavoured juicy pork. We know that stress free pigs are happy healthy pigs and this produces great tasting free range pork for your fork! You will find our pork at farmers markets and by ordering online for home delivery. The Farm
Our pigs can be found on the Murray River Clay Flats just east of Barham. The small farm is dotted with Shady River Red Gums and lots of smaller regenerating gums. To keep the pigs cool during the warmer months the pigs wallow in the gully that naturally fills with rain runoff. We rotate the pigs between the paddocks and have introduced a rotating crop and pasture system. When the pigs are moved from a paddock we then under sow pasture beneath a crop and send the pigs back in when the paddock has been rested and full ground coverage has been reestablished.
We feed our pigs a full diet complete with cracked maize, lupins, wheat, barley, lucerne and nuts. We are also lucky to have our friends at Barham Avocados who supply us with the most rich and delicious avocado seconds, citrus peel from the local packing shed and in the cooler months we have chestnuts coming from near Wangaratta. Pigs also eat a lot of dirt! This is where they get a lot of their Iron from and we believe that the high mineral content of clay in our soil at Barham influences the flavour of the pork. We believe that all these factors combined make our pork a little bit unique.

Natural Environment
Rearing the pigs outdoors is the natural environment for the animals. The piglets are born outdoors and live their entire lives outdoors in paddocks, as do all our breeding pigs. Exercise, social interaction and rooting the soil are all essential behaviour patterns allowing us to grow happy healthy pigs. Our pigs are natural fertilisers and land cultivators, which minimises our use of chemical fertilisers and machinery on the land. This makes for a healthy environment and fertile soil.
We also manage our pigs to be free of hormones, antibiotics and other nasties, and we do not inject our pork with water or anything else... so you get only the good natural stuff.

Rare Breed Pigs
Our herd is based on the heritage Berkshire breed as they have superior meat marbling qualities, are very well suited to outdoor environments and have a lovely temperament. We also think they are just the best tasting pigs out there.
We also see our programme assisting in sustaining the breed for the future. Strangely enough by choosing to eat more rare breed pork we are actually playing a part in keeping rare breeds alive.
